The 106 blade is narrower, and when paired with a long, wide handle, would make an excellent carving knife. The blade is made from laminated carbon steel, with an inner core hardened to 60-62 Rockwell, sandwiched between layers of lower-carbon steel for durability. While some laminated steel blades are not the best choice for carving due to their thickness, at only 0.09″ this blade would perform very well in a carving knife.
